With my self portrait I wanted to make people stop and notice who I am. A self portrait is supposed to look like you, well what about looking like you from the inside? I don’t want to be know as someone who is good at drawing but rather at being able to create a story through my art. To me an artist is not someone who can draw with a pencil, to me an artist is someone who can create with their mind. - Uros Tubic
What I did
In my self portrait I drew my face and the outline of my shoulders. I did not use colored pencils or paint for this portrait but instead used collage. I used modge podge glue to stick the pieces of magazine onto the paper. I used different shades of blue magazine pieces for the top of my sweater and different shades of gray for the bottom of ny sweater. I used different textures and shades of blonde and brown for my hair, and for the background I used red. In the picture my eyes are green and I did this with colored pencil.
Why I did it
In my portrait I kept my whole face white but made the background, my hair, and my sweater very colorful. I did this to show that in our society people judge you on how you look (my hair), what you are wearing (my sweater), and what you surround yourself with (my background). I kept my face white because not many people judge you by who you are on the inside and just look at who you are from the outside. In this portrait I made my eyes green but in real life my eyes are hazel. I did this because the rest of my family has green eyes and I am the only person who doesn't, so I wanted to symbolize my family with my eyes.
