Painting of a girl
My vision was to create something that represents time passing and things moving on in color while someone is just there in black and white not bothering to notice and appreciate what is going on around her. I did this by drawing the person in regular pencil and then adding a rainbow of colors around in waves to look like a moving motion. I also mixed the colors to try to make a better illusion that time was passing. I think my piece is successful because I think it clearly represented what I was trying to. Although some people might not be able to notice it because it has a deeper meaning that just a simple rainbow and a stick figure, I still know what it represents.
I made my artwork by using tempera cakes as borders to separate the colors and then used liquid watercolor to fill in the spaces. I used tempera cakes because I think they create bold lines however not too bold so that the colors don’t look like they are mixing. I chose liquid water color because I think it has a flowy look to it which would help with my idea and because they are easy to mix colors with. I drew my girl in pencil because I thought it made her look dull which is what I wanted to do. It was really easy for me to decide what materials to use because I already had an idea about what I wanted my artwork to represent and how I was going to do so.
