Come to our Art Show! Fairview South School Thursday, May 1 6-8 PM Ms. Stucker and I are busily organizing, preparing, and hanging artwork and making beautiful displays to showcase the work of our talented students. Each student will have at least two artworks from this year on display, meaning that for our roughly 600 students there are 1200 artworks to staple, identify, and fit onto one of the many bulletin boards throughout the school!! New this year- QR codes! This year we are using QR codes to link parents and students to relevant information on each project. It's a nice way to get a multimedia display to further explain the excellent learning that takes place in our classrooms! 7th Grade artists are creating a reductive color print of a repeating quilt motif. We studied the tradition of friendship quilts, and created our own geometric motifs to print on large paper. Each color is a separate printing, where colors all layer on top of each other to create the final image! On March 17, Students, parents, teachers and community members came together to celebrate student achievement in the arts in Skokie schools. Mayor George Van Doosen was present to recognize the excellent artistic effort for students in pre-K through 12th grade. Ms. Stucker and I selected two students' work from each of our nine grades to put on display. We're very proud of the excellent work of our kiddos! |
