Environmental Art: Art that deals with issues of the natural ecology, often using natural materials as media. For example, Goldsworthy uses leaves, polishes them with water, pins them to the ground with thorns
Impermanence: Things that are not permanent; will eventually fall apart and be changed. Goldsworthy's work has impermanence - the only thing that remains after they're made is the photograph of it.
Cairn: A man-made pile or stack of stones. Cairns have been made all over the world for centuries, and are used as land markers along paths, to mark a ceremonial site, or many other uses. Goldsworthy's work is informed by that tradition
